There are three choirs for you at St Mary’s – a Boys’ & Mens’ Choir, a Girls’ Choir and a Ladies’ Choir!
On a Sunday, the Boys’ Choir sing in our Mens’ and Boys’ choir at the 11am service and once a month at the 6:30pm evening service. They meet to practice during term time on Tuesdays from 4:30pm – 5:30pm and on Fridays from 7pm – 8:30pm. ( They can also come to Chorister training at 6.30pm, to work towards Singing Awards).
The Girls’ Choir was formed in September 2015, and they meet on Tuesdays from 5.30pm – 6.30pm.
The Ladies’ Choir meet on Tuesdays from 6.30pm – 7.30pm.
We are always on the look out for new singers who would like to join us.
For any children who may be interested in becoming a chorister at St Mary’s:
Boys and Girls should be seven years or over
They should be able to read fairly well
They do not need any prior musical knowledge
They do not need to know any of the music we sing!
Firstly, they can come and watch a practice, or join in with the other singers. We will not ask them to sing a solo!
They are then put on a period of probation to see if they like the choir, and are not committed to anything at this stage.
Parents are welcome to come along to the practices.
